Water, sewage, and other systems within the utilities sector are projected to see an increase in employment opportunities. With a growing population and increasing number of environmental mandates and regulations the demand for workers in this industry is expected to rise.

What about CA?

By 2022 there will be a 27.8% growth in Environmental Engineering Technicians in CA.

Is the industry growing?

Employment is expected to increase by 7,500, to reach 55,200 by 2022. Real output is projected to increase from $5.9 billion in 2012 to $7.4 billion in 2022, an increase of $1.5 billion, at an annual rate of 2.2 percent.


The Energy, Environment, and Utilities pathway is a fast growing industry providing great career opportunities. 

Air Quality Technician, Climatologist, Environmental Biologist/Technician/Scientist, Environmental Health and Safety Officer, Hazardous Waste Operations, Energy Engineer, Plan/Field Weatherization Installer, Network Operators, Network Security Administrators, Cable Technicians, Energy Manager, and Environmental Pollution Control.

Prepares students for employment, postsecondary education, and/or training in a variety of environmental industries.
